Dear Knimer’s, have a question about new Knime reporting tool - how we can us it, specially in the way of create reports fragment, I’m try but not success in gething familiar with this new tool. I already take a look in couple of examples but still confused.
Thanks
Stjepan
I plan to play with it in the next few days, so I may be able to offer some more insights then. Did you see this workflow?
Yes I did, but still confused:
- Do I need to create Component every time before start to use this new report nodes?
- How can I create Component output as report fragment? When I analysed workflow you suggested to me, somewhere and somehow I find option to used component as collection of report fragments but, when I try to create component on my own which will be include Text View (Labs) node I can not find this option again …
- Text View (Labs) node do not alowed me to use any other type of variables in design pane (“Rich Text Content”) except the string type …
Hi @ssimara ,
I was struggling with the same questions. By my limited understanding (and not having KNIME open right now) you need a component to get a report fragment and you have to use the layout configuration of that component to select (just by clicking) the report ‘capability’ getting ‘switched on’.
I have no idea for your third point, but you can convert any number to a string ….
Best regards,
Jürgen
Hey @ssimara,
- yes currently you need to create a component in order to make the reporting work. The idea is that you can use all of the layouting tools that a component already offers. I agree that it is currently a bit cumbersome to iterate on your layout as you always have to go inside the component change something and outside again to see the actual effect. This is something we will improve in the future.
- There is an option at the bottom of the layout editor inside a component that will enable the reporting output port.
- This is a current limitation of the Text View (Labs) node. Technically it does allow all the types that can easily be converted to a string type. Did you try it with a number type, or what was the type you would like to work?
Greetings,
Daniel
