I know that you can use the column expression node, and the math formula/string manipulation nodes when it is applicable - but all of those nodes have preliminary needs. The column expression node requires a basic understanding of Java Script and the math and string manipulation nodes do not allow for simple changes, such as IF statements or imputing with missing values without using several different functions.
