OpenAI Authenticator: Unable to insert API Key

Hi,

the OpenAI Authenticator nodes input field is disabled, only allowing to configure it via credentail variables but not by manually providing the API key.

Hi Mike,

According to the node description:

Credentials can be set on the workflow level (right-click the workflow in the KNIME Explorer and click “Workflow Credentials”) or created inside the workflow e.g. with the Credentials Configuration node and fed into this node via a flow variable.

Kind regards,

Maybe the point I want to make is that:

  1. It is high unintuitive compared to how it usually works
  2. the UI does not give any hint that credentials MUST be provided via other means

Why provide a disabled input field when you cannot insert anything in the first place?

We’ve looked into this internally and I can confirm that there’s already a ticket in our backlog to address it. However, progress is currently blocked due to a limitation in the underlying Python framework.
We really appreciate you highlighting this — feedback like yours helps us prioritize usability improvements.
