Problem updating from 3.12 -> 3.2 - An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

Morning

I've been having lots of issues trying to update Knime from 3.12 to 3.2 using the main menu option.

I get an error message saying "an error occurred while collecting items to be installed". The detail is below. Earlier I was also having a similar problem with timestamp 0 expected 0, although that seems to have stopped.

Does anyone know what I might be able to do to fix it / update Knime? (footnote: I've had a lot of historic issues updating Knime before, which usually resulted in an uninstall and then a new install of the fresh version).

Thanks

There seems to be a problem with the internet connection. Restart and try again.

Hi thor

Thanks for your reply. I tried restarting Knime, and also my computer, and got the same broad error but with different detail.

I also tried downloading the updated package from the website and installing it through the "Help" menu, but I get the same error as I did trying to install it through the normal menu option.

On startup however, the splash screen is now suggesting it is Knime 3.21 but the Update Knime menu option still asks me to update to 3.2.

Thanks

Mo

As a follow-up from above, I tried to force it to install from the downloaded Update file without still connecting to the internet by unchecking the web address from the "available site" list. It appeared to install succesfully but Knime then failed to restart. Instead it closed and now throws an error when launching:

"The Knime executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library".

I assume a fresh instill will be required but I'll wait in case it can be salvaged.

Thanks

Mo

Mo,

I do the fresh installs as a rule, since I like being on the bleeding edge, and mixtures between nightlies, stable and trusted are not unheard of. This hardly ever survives a major release, or at least I'm too impatient to try making it work

Sorry, no ideas re salvage ops - your workflows are safe though, so not too critical.

E.

Thanks Ergonomist. I did a fresh install and it's all working fine again.

I think something might have gone awry though as I've never been able to update Knime through the suggested methods. I'll keep an eye on it and probably just do fresh installs as a rule in the future too.
