Rendering of Chemical Strucutres: fixed size but shrink to fit

Is there any way to get chemical structure into a report in a defined size but never overflowing the given picture size? (called shrinkToFit on ChemDraw Plugin)

Or said in other words if the strucutre is too big it should be shrinked to fit the size, but if it is very small it should not be made bigger. Problem is that for example Marvin render either those no scaling or both types of scaling.

Hi,

If you uncheck the Automatic Scaling option in the Marvin Renderer Preference, you get structure as defined size.

Taka

Yes but they should shrink if too large for the given space and that does nto happen. Instead parts of the structure are cut-off.

I think that you can also define the Scale factor to fit large structure.
Or do I have misunderstanding?

I have enhanced the Marvin Renderer Preference.
This will be available in next version.
I hope that this can meet to your expectations.

wow thanks. Thats exactly what I was looking for.

Which version are you running? I don't have a "shrink" option in my settings.

I'm sorry that I'm using developer version...

One last thought I had on the Marvin renderer is that often there can be large white borders around the structures, this makes the structures very small when you have them confined to a cell in a table in the BIRT Reporting tool.

Is it possible to ensure the structures go right up to the edge of the box they are contained in without leaving white spaces.

Hi

I'm really sorry that I don't have sample image which has large white borders...
Is it possible that you give me example structure?

Thank you for your time and kindly cooperation.

Taka

Hi,

I have implemented new option for the Marvin Renderer.

- Margin size in pt

This feature will be available in next version.
