Replacement for Buckminster? [that is now archived]

Hi Knime Team,

The Buckminster project that you recommended to build p2 nodes update site is now archived (since February 2019). That explains a part of the issue I raised here: https://forum.knime.com/t/is-buckminster-still-valid-to-build-an-update-site/

See https://www.eclipse.org/projects/archives.php

So now, my question is: what is the recommended way - by the Knime Team - to define a p2 zipped update site for our custom nodes?

Thanks

Yannic

Hi @yannic_ariana,
we are currently working on porting our builds from buckminster to Tycho. For an easy start with tycho and KNIME take a look at the following community project:

It allows you to easily create the required project structure for building a KNIME extension using maven and tycho.

Are there any “idiot’s guide”-type instructions for converting existing multi-feature multi-plugin buckminster builds to Tycho?

Good idea, we should write one once we have collected more experience on converting our builds.

That would be excellent! I guess I could also look at our community build once it is converted?!

Steve

PS - Will the build still be orchestrated on Jenkins?

Yes, currently no reason for us to do it differently.

Hi Gabriel,

Is there a doc available now?

Thanks
Ravikiran

Hi @ravikiran,

we plan to move the community builds from buckminster to tycho in the next months, I will create the necessary documentation and inform the community once it is ready.

best,
Gabriel
