after designing a BIRT report, it would be useful to be able to get this back into the workflow as an image so this can be used in a Send Email node for instance.
basically, as far as I can understand there is no way to run a workflow on a schedule on the Knime server and for it to email the report to separate individuals where the reports are personalised per person.

You might be able to adapt the approach we described here - http://www.knime.org/files/006_kuduk_roughley_vernalis.pdf (around about slide 20) - i.e. have a very simple reporting workflow - possible different for the different users, which is / are called by the main workflow. You can then save the report from the reporting flow somewhere, and send it as an attachment
