Running large tasks on disk with NVME drives?

I don’t know if anyone has tried, and I’m asking before sinking the money. I have a dual Xeon with 32Gb ram and still some heavy tasks like grouping and so run slower than I’d like.

I wonder if running tasks on disk will be fast enough with NVME disks, as I see that my ram always gets clogged with Knime, so I guess RAM is the limit here. I know RAM is still much faster, but maybe NVME is fast enough and provides way more capacity being way cheaper.

I was thinking on buying a fast 512 or 1tb nvme and try, what do you think?
