Scaling issue (4k display & Linux)

I’m setting up a Linux box at home (Mint 22) and just downloaded and unpacked Knime 5.4. But on my 4k display all the text etc. looks tiny to the point of being unreadable.

There’s an earlier thread (Scaling issue with KNIME on high resolution displays) addressing the exact same problem, but the suggested fix of putting
-Dorg.knime.ui.zoomfactor=2.0
in the Knime.ini file doesn’t seem to work for me. There is also a reference to a ticket at the end of that thread indicating a fix in 5.3.

Would appreciate any troubleshooting tips.

Actually, I just switched from the modern UI to the classic one and that looks a lot better.

Hello @pipetman,

In the modern UI, you can adjust in-app scaling by clicking the menu button located at the top right corner and selecting the interface scale option to increase or decrease its size.

Let me know if this does not solve your problem.

Thanks!
I had to squint really really hard to see that option, but managed to scale it that way.

In the classic UI, all the menu items and fonts for the nodes have a good size after applying the above mentioned Knime.ini fix, but the node icons in a workflow are still really small. Is there any way to fix that?

Hello @pipetman,

Have you tried changing the zoom option availabele at the top left to higher value?

I’m jumping on this post although I realise my issue is not a scaling issue but it’s a very recent (definitely since 5.4) installed 4 weeks ago. It’s not reproducible but sporadic. The display will suddenly jump in such a way to hide a portion of the lefthand side of the window.

See how the Home button is halfhidden. I tried rescaling but that doesn’t change anything. Any suggestions gratefully received as I’m having to do a restart when it occurs.

UPDATE: If I open another workflow it resizes correctly. If I close the workflow (so only one is open) it jumps back to the incorrect display
