Send to Tableau Server node writes file to /srv/knime_server/jobs/

Hi,

I have a workflow that takes data from a database and then using the ‘Send to Tableau Server’ node I want to publish the Tableau data source extract on Tableau Server.

It is working fine locally on my machine.

However, on the server the workflow doesn’t give an error but neither a ‘successful execution’ message. It just shows a blank page… and the tableau data source is not published on the Tableau Server.

The SSL Certificate is installed on the server.

Hello @Kon -

Sorry for the trouble. Have you tried using the new Send to Tableau Server (Hyper) node? Does it perform any better, or throw a similar error?

Hi @ScottF,

Thanks for your reply.

I have also tried the new node ‘Send to Tableau Server (Hyper)’ but I’m getting the below error.

This extension is not installed on our KNIME Server.

How can I install the extension?

Hi @Kon,

This is described there in the server documentation:
https://docs.knime.com/2018-12/server_admin_guide/index.html#installing-additional-extensions

For Linux you’ll need to log into the server via SSH as the owner of the KNIME installation, or login as a super user and su - to the owner. If not, you could cause the installation to be miss matched on the owners of the files.

Shutdown the KNIME Server service either through the shutdown.sh or through the system’s service interface (if setup).

You’ll need to find the executor the server is using. This can be found via the Administration tab on the webportal, or looking at the knime-server.config file on the linux machine within the workflow_repository.

Once in the knime_executor folder you can run the following command.

./knime -nosplash -application org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director -i org.knime.features.ext.tableau.hyper.feature.group,org.knime.features.ext.tableau.hyper.bin.feature.group -r https://update.knime.org/analytics-platform/3.7

This installs the Hyper nodes, and the SDK from Tableau.

After the install finishes, restart the KNIME service, and the error above should go away.
