settings.xml with inconsistent line break

Hi

Maybe you do not consider this to be a bug. However, I am using KNIME with Subversion and adding my projects, I usually get a bunch of errors because the settings files have inconsistent line ending style. It is very time-consuming to fix this.

It also happens with other xml files like spec.xml

spec.xml of ports at least mainly.

Hi Thiemo,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have forwarded your feedback to development. We’ll try find a quick fix, but no promises.

Would you happen to have any further details for the analysis/reproduction? E.g.

  • Does this occur iff you work with KNIME installations across operating systems?
  • Are you able to share simple steps (and/or workflows) to reproduce such an issue?
  • Does the issue only occur in one direction (e.g. only \r\n being added to documents otherwise using Unix-style line endings)?

Kind regards
Marvin

Hi @marvin.kickuth

Thanks for taking this up.

  • I have been working on Windows only with KNIME the last weeks, wo I cannot tell anything about cross-os issue. However, I had this problem with stuff downloaded for your courses. I am currently working on L3-CD.
  • I presume, you should find this behaviour when you drag and drop course exercises, I discovered it at L1-DS and L2-DS is affected too, into KNIME on Windows (10). You also can have a look at the attached screen capture. [redacted]
  • I did not do any research on which line break was prevailing, but I feel there are more windows style line breaks within.

Kind regards

Thiemo

@Thiemo.Kellner do you by any chance have your knime workspace on a folder that uses Microsoft OneDrive.

@mlauber71 Not that I know of. I hope, I could successfully deactivate OneDrive.

Some settings of OneDrive do mess with the knime paths

I believe to have deinstalled OneDrive even.
