This bug is by workflow design, that is it happens regardless of which KNIME version you are using.

The Topic Explorer component is now fixed.
You should be able to use it on topic models with 2 topics up to 1000 topics.
To get the update right click on the component to update it
or drag and drop again from KNIME Community Hub:
