String Manipulation node disappeared - anyone else?

Dear Hive mind

I have set up a work flow last week using the string manipulation node (amongst others). Opening the work flow today, the string manipulation node is missing with the following message:

Node description for MISSING String Manipulation:

Placeholder node for missing “String Manipulation”.

Node “String Manipulation” not available from extension “KNIME Javasnippet” (provided by “KNIME AG, Zurich, Switzerland”; plugin “org.knime.jsnippets” is not installed)"
"

Javasnippet extension is installed - I get an error message if I try to install it again. I have not changed anything in the workflow or in Knime between last week and today.

Has anybody else got the same problem? I have rebooted Knime and the laptop to no positive effect.

Tried your suggestion, no change.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the Javasnippets extension but also no change.

does missing String Manipulation means you can not find it in Node Repository or is issue only related to one workflow?

I cannot find it in the node repository. When loading an existing workflow, I get the following error message:

ERROR LoadWorkflowRunnable Status: Error: Node “String Manipulation” not available from extension “KNIME Javasnippet” (provided by “KNIME AG, Zurich, Switzerland”; plugin “org.knime.jsnippets” is not installed)

However, If I try to install it, I get an error message telling me that it is already installed. :person_shrugging:

I have replaced the node with a Column expressions node but would still like to solve the problem.

Hi @CCI_Liverpool , this is weird!

Can you try to drag the String Manipulation node directly from this page to one of your workflows?

Knime should try to download and install any required package when you add this node to any of your workflow.

Hello @CCI_Liverpool,

if I were you I would go for a fresh KNIME installation and stop any further investigation. These things can happen. Make sure to backup your work(space).

This is getting more and more curious. Anyway, I’ll try a new installation :cry: It is a fairly recent installation which makes this even more annoying.

sorry for the inconvenience. We can’t reproduce the problem on our side (yet) but let us know if you have further problems (and which version of KNIME you’re using).

I was using 4.5.2 but have now installed 4.6 and the string manipulation node is present and working in the workflow and can be found in the node repository.
