Stay tuned for more Just KNIME It! news, and thanks for all your support.
Most challenges, at least of the recent past, were about “Take this data any visualize it”. Within each / most data set(s) I found issues like data not being explained well, being inconcise (single colon amongst numbers) numbers or numbers don’t add up:
Example
Sum of percentage of respective group exceeding 100
Understanding the data, making it usable, filtering it for statistical analysis, identifying outliers etc. relates to necessary skills we all must hone and keep sharp.
Why not creating a multi-step challenge where we must:
Challenge #1: Check an pre-process the data
Identifying bad data
Classification, labeling etc.
Transforming it in the required format to proceed to challenge #2
Challenge #2: Transform the pre-processed data or enriching it with other sources
GroubBy, Pivoting, Transposing
Joining, Value Lookup
Maybe read and insert back into a DB
Challenge #3: Visualize it
Using certain visualization node types like ECharts
Building a DataApp leveraging a DB or just an interactive View with certain filter capabilities
During each iteration submitted contestants results would get evaluated and only those solutions that meet certain criteria would be allowed to pass on or better, would be considered for the finals to give everyone the opportunity to learn.
Almost like a ETL-Triathlon. There would be less challenges as the competition is more complex to organize but it would be much more entertaining, wouldn’t it?
Hi! We really like your ideas and appreciate your feedback!
We have a few challenges down the road that partially address your suggestions, and we’ll consider creating new ones that cover more of what you mentioned.
