The Column Rename node isn't showing up in the search.

Hello,

The Column Rename node isn’t showing up in the search.
The search term I entered is ‘column rename’.
Is there a solution?

Thanks,

@tymsk3891 isn’t it the 6th entry from the top?

Thank you for responding.
It’s the Column Renamer, not the Column Rename.

I tried searching for a workflow containing the Column Rename created in KNIME version 4, but I couldn’t find any hits. It seems like the Column Rename might have been removed from the search results.

I think the Column Renamer is only available in KNIME version 5 and not in KNIME version 4. So, I would like to search for the Column Rename.

Will the KNIME Community Hub stop allowing searches for workflows created in older KNIME versions?

Regards,

@tymsk3891 you can search for deprecated nodes inside knime:

Also here it is

Thank you for teaching me such a useful technique!
How did you obtain the link to Column Rename (deprecated) page on KNIME Community Hub?

Regards,

Hi @tymsk3891,

when you are in Modern UI append /deprecated to list those nodes matching your query but being marked as deprecated.

Hey @mwiegand,

I think there is a small mistake in your answer and it should probably be //deprecated

@mwiegand Thank you for your comment. I think //deprecated is useful.

Unfortunately, the KNIME Community Hub doesn’t seem to support searching for deprecated nodes. The nodes that have been renamed in KNIME 5 may no longer be searchable using their previous names. For KNIME4 users, this situation would be inconvenient.

I would be glad if a solution were provided in the future.

Thanks,

Hi @tymsk3891 , I agree that the renaming of nodes in the KNIME hub is problematic for anybody who is not using the latest version. The ability to find details for old nodes, and the difficulties posed by node renaming is touched upon here in this recent thread

Personally I’d like to be able to search the hub from the point of view of a specific KNIME version, so if I’m using KNIME 4.7.8, for example, I’d be able to find Workflows, components and nodes that are relevant to that version or earlier.

Hello,

Here is a summary of the key points:

  • The KNIME Community Hub supports search only for the nodes in the latest KNIME Analytics Platform.
  • The KNIME Community Hub does not provide search for the deprecated nodes.
  • If a node has been renamed, we cannot search for it using its old name.

I hope that future updates to the KNIME Community Hub will deal with these points.

Thanks,

Hi @tymsk3891, whilst not solving your problem with respect to KNIME community hub, it occurred to me that you can search on nodepit.com, and you might then be able to find information there for deprecated nodes. Nodepit also allows you to specify the version of KNIME that you currently use, and the results are adjusted accordingly.

e.g.
searching for “Column Rename” with my version set to 5.3…

searching for “Column Rename” with my version set to 4.7…

Nodepit.com is brought to us thanks to the work of Daniel Esser @danielesser and Philipp Katz @qqilihq. Big shout out to you guys… I wonder if (without giving away anything proprietary) you have any tips on following the “evolution” of nodes between KNIME versions?

Thank you, takbb, much appreciated!

I think we do not have the ultimate solution for this at the moment, but at least a few tools which might be helpful:

  • We deliberately allow you to search for deprecated nodes
  • We index versions going back to 3.6
  • For deprecated nodes we try to show you the replacements:

By the way, most of this information is also available via HTTP API, and, of course, via KNIME Nodes, e.g.:

Also we consider the public nodepit.com as a service to the community, independent of the KNIME company and definitely not proprietary - so, if anybody has ideas, wants to contribute, or build on what we have, drop us an email!

Cheers,
Philipp

Hi @takbb,

Thank you for the excellent suggestion. I think Nodepit will solve most of my concerns. I find it particularly impressive that it allows searching for deprecated nodes and renamed nodes

@qqilihq
Thank you for the wonderful work you’re doing!
