The item with id 'root' is not a workflow group

Hi, I’m trying to save my workflow to my downloads folder, but KNIME does not let me do so by not letting me click the ‘finish button’

I thought it had something to do with my Local Space, so I tried to click create folder, but got this instead:
The item with id ‘root’ is not a workflow group

Please give me a way to download my workflow as a .knar file.

Hey there and welcome to the forum!

Are you trying to save your workflow by clicking the “save as” button?

If so this will not create a .knar file and you won’t be able to save outside of your local workspace folder.

To create a .knar file (this is what you get when you export a folder) or a .knwf file (this is what you get when you export a single individual workflow):

  1. browse to the workflow in your local workspace from within KAP

  2. right-click the Workflow or the Folder you want to export and select export
    image

  3. In the new window browse to the location you want to export to - e.g. in your case your downloads folder

Hi, I do not see an Export button. Here’s what happens when I try to download something.

I see - the WF right now lives on a space on the community hub or a business hub you have access to right?

In that case:

  1. Open it in your local KAP
  2. Click the “Save As” Button in the top left corner and save it to your local Workspace
  3. Find the WF in your local Workspace and then right click => Export.

That doesn’t work either. I think there’s a problem with my Local Workspace.

@BXtheCoder is your workflow by any chance on a cloud drive namely OneDrive?

Also can you tell us more about your general setup and maybe provide a fresh log file in debug mode when this happens.

Thank you, @MartinDDDD and @mlauber71 mlauber71.
My issue has been resolved.

I did this Error Installing Python Extensions - #3 by Xtian.
It worked, thank you!

@BXtheCoder glad that the issue has been resolved although I do not understand what the problem was and how this relates to the python extension but good that it works anyway.
