Unable to install AF Utility Nodes

Hello everyone!
I’ve started using KNIME a few months ago (back in July 2023) and have loved using it for work! I had several extensions installed on my work computer. I’m currently using KNIME v5.1.0 and I wanted to upgrade because of this very annoying visual bug that occurs on already executed nodes
(that’s not the point of this thread, but here’s a picture anyway).

So after getting KNIME 5.2.1 unzipped and the Knime Community Extensions ZIP file downloaded (It’s worth mentionning that any app that’s not recognized by our firewall is blocked from accessing the internet on my work laptop). I tried installing the AF Utility Nodes by @AnotherFraudUser and I get an error saying that the extension will not be installed, here’s the error below:

I’m “somewhat” tech savvy, so I tried to experiment with a few solutions like copying the plugin (org.AnotherFraudExcel.PasswordManager) it needed from my old installation, thinking it would just recognize it as an installed plugin and load it, but it didn’t work. I’ve looked at most previous posts, none of the solutions I read have worked so I’m not really sure what to do, I need to get my coworker on KNIME so they can use my workflows as I’m moving to a different position and we were also unable to install the extension on his end (on both 5.1.0 and 5.2.1).

Any help is appreciated, thanks all!

Hi @ellysus,

The problem is, that the AF Utility nodes require dependencies that are provided via our update site, if you don’t have them already installed.
Please download the zipped version of our 5.2.1 update site, add it to your AP installation (which will allow you to install other extensions from us as well)

Once you have this update site configured in your AP, you should be able to install the AF utility nodes as well, as it will then fetch the required dependencies from it.

best,
Gabriel

Thanks a bunch @gab1one !
One more question, can you please tell me where I could find that link if I ever want to download the same updates zip for a newer/older version?

Hi @ellysus,

You can go to Previous Versions | KNIME, there is also a link to the “zipped update site” for each release. Also, the links are very regular, e.g:
