Uploading workflows via REST API causes portal to become unresponsive

Folks we have noticed that uploading workflows via the REST API endpoint /rest/v4/repository/{path}:data causes the web portal to become unresponsive for the duration of the upload which can take 10-16 seconds for a 500k file. Knime desktop can also show a spinning wheel (mac) during this period. Is there an optimal way to upload workflows via the rest API to avoid performance hits in the portal?

Can you please clarify which version of Apache Tomcat and KNIME server are being used in this environment?

server version 4.16.2,
Tomcat I think it is 9.0.68 but Ill confirm

Is this KNIME server on a Linux OS? Ubuntu or Redhat?
Does the same thing happen to the webportal when you upload/deploy a workflow via AP?
