Just downloaded the new version, and it does indeed look much more modern.
However,
there does not seem to be a way to adjust/move the links between the nodes. They are always curved (fine), but not handles (dots in 4.7.5) to move the line. How can I accomplish this? My workflows look horrible with lines all over the place, on top of other nodes and notes!
where is the snap to grid? or the grid itself for that matter? (not essential, but the lining up of nodes is!) or align nodes vertically/horizontally?
Hi everyone, I am not replying to this post, just asking a question on V5.10, and is how I can revert the view to the classic Knime UI? despite the fact that the new UI is awesome.
Actually, following your suggestion I discovered that the right-click menu in 5.1 now includes a āConfigure flow variablesā, so it is there without going to the classic.
Another thing that bothers me a little: the node palette to the left is big. And it cannot be resized. I think an option to use the previous outline should be considered, and it should definitely be resizable as it now takes up an inordinate amount of screen estate just to show familiar iconsā¦
yes exactly, this menu is there in both the classic and the new ui. We are aware that this is not yet optimal and we already have plans to make them editable directly in the new dialogs. But we need some more time to get this right.
I am missing the option to double click on a workflow and automatically open it in KNIME. It works when I switch to the classic ui but not in the new one. Is that still in development?
Thanks to @knime for continue on your great product

thanks for the feedback and I am glad that you like the new table view. We are still investigating how this cell selection that allows you to select cells vertically could work. For now this is sadly not working, but we are trying to find a solution to bring this functionality back.
I have a workflow acting as a main UI, with a refresh button and a couple of input widgets as well as a Call Workflow (Table). And another that takes that table in a Container Input (Table), and does things, and shows it in a view.
The key is that this is working well in 4.7.5; even the simplest (Caller: one widget->variable to table row->call workflow(table); and Callee: Container input(Table)).
This does not work in 5.1, the called workflow is not executed, the table is not updated in the Callee.
Which OS are you on? And, when you double click on the workflow, are you talking about double clicking on it from the OS/Folder Explorer view (therefore it would be file association linking it to AP for opening), or are you talking about from somewhere within AP?
Hello @NDekay
Windows 11
What I mean is downloading a flow e.g. from the hub and then double click on it to open it in KNIME Gui.
With the āclassic interfaceā no problem. In the new 5.1 Interface the workflow is not opening. If KNIME is already open it simply does nothing while in the classic one it shows the flow immediately

I been using 5.1 now since it was released, and wonder if your experience is the same as mine:
the new table view is great, but the fact that nodes no longer have an Output option in the context menu is not. Compact mode should be made a preference/persistent
the UI in general looks nicer, but the inability to position the connections and the missing grid is not
the new nodes are also great, but the node palette is awful; the old tree-based selection and search is much better; the waste of screen estate is not good at all
I find myself using the classic interface almost exclusively.
Hi Team,
First of all, thank you for all the good work! Lots of changes moving in the right direction.
On the new UI, I agree to all that Sam had raised before. I would add one thing on the output option on nodes. Having multiple node outputs open in floating windows simultaneously is helpful for multi-screen setups, as it allows for the viewing of data and coding downstream/upstream nodes at the same time.
When working with big tables, it takes time to rebuild the preview in the new UI. This is counterproductive compared to the old UI, which allows keeping a table view open and jumping between nodes without the need to rebuild data preview every time you switch nodes.
On top of that, in the new UI I am missing:
Ability to switch workspaces?
Console/outline view
Overall, the new UI looks cleaner, however it lost the customisation and functionality of the āoldā UI. I hope this is planned to be brought back in the future releases. Until then, I find using the classic interface is more productive.
Following up with you on this feedback - there are two JIRAs for tracking this already:
NXT-1438 to open knwf file via double click, and
NXT-1810 to open knar file via double click.
However, in the name of transparency, they have not yet been prioritized or slated for a particular future release as of yet, so I donāt have any prospective target dates for completion.
