Widget/Table View issue with advanced char set - (Bug or configuration issue?)

Hi community,

i’m currently struggling with an issue in a component with widgets and data viewer.
As far as i don’t have strings containing advanced chars like (µ, °, etc.) the component works as expected. Strings having those advanced chars causes trouble but the issue only occurs after the usage of a switch.

Any idea/suggestions to avoid this behavior?

Thanks in advance
BR

Hey @morpheus,

I seem to be unable to reproduce your issue. What version of KNIME and what operating system are you using? With “after switch usage” you mean changing the value in the dropdown back and forth?

Greetings,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I’m using Knime version 4.5.0 and the operating system is Windows 10.
And yes “after switch usage” i mean changing value in dropdown back and forth.

Thanks
Hermann

Hey @morpheus,

thanks for providing the information. I tried to reproduce this issue, but it seems like this works fine on a Mac. Will try to reproduce this on a windows computer. While I am doing that would it be possible for you to test it in a never version of KNIME? (best 5.1) I remember that we had encoding issues some time ago, but they should not be present anymore in never versions.

Greetings,
Daniel

Hey @DanielBog,

i have installed Knime 5.1 and this error is gone. So i assume has been most likely an encoding issue.
Thanks for the support.

(Nevertheless further developing the component trigger some new errors. :frowning:)

Hey @morpheus ,

happy to hear that this resolves the first issue and sad to hear that you are running into more issues. If you can tell me more about these errors I could try to help you.

Greetings,
Daniel

Hey @DanielBog,

i’ve created a new topic for that issues (Component error with TableView (Java) & Widget refresh). It’s the first using Widgets and therefore I’m not sure it is on my fault or it is a knime issue.
