My customer is worrying about using KNIME Server because of the following reasons:
Someone told my customer KNIME Server will support LINUX-based products ONLY.
Is it true?
My customer worries about it because they do not want to use Linux.
The end of support is 24 months after the release. 24 months is too short, so every year or so the customer and us have to apply for and execute an upgrade , the process takes a lot of time. Is it possible to extend the support period?
Can someone tell me about KNIME Server’s future product roadmap and support policy?
KNIME Server has always run on both Linux and Windows machines. I assume you may be inquiring about its successor KNIME Business Hub.
KNIME Business Hub runs on a Kubernetes architecture. The Kubernetes control plane can’t run on Windows nodes, similar to many of our containers. These are requirements we can’t work around. What may be possible in the future is to run execution contexts (i.e. the containers that actually run KNIME Workflows) on Windows nodes.
for the time being we are continuing to provide bug fix updates and minor changes to KNIME Server. However, KNIME Business Hub is our enterprise software solution going forward.
