Workflow to Tool node fails to identify workflows in KAP 5.8.1 LTS

I’m encountering an issue where the Workflow to Tool node is failing to recognize valid KNIME workflows, even though they are clearly visible in the file system.

When I pass these paths into the Workflow to Tool node, the node “sees” the files/folders, but it fails to identify them as valid workflows. They appear to be ignored or flagged as incompatible, preventing the tool conversion.

I’ve attached screenshots showing the output of the workflow to tool node and the folders being recognised as workflows in the knime desktop app.

Is this a known compatibility issue with the 5.8.1 LTS release, or is there a specific path format (URI vs. Local Path) that this node now strictly requires?

fairly sure that I used workflow to tool successfully in 5.8.1 already.

Can you share some more details:

  • Can you confirm workflows are set up as tools (i.e. use configuration nodes to define parameters, Tool Message Output node etc. to pass data back to an agent?)
  • Where are these Workflows stored? Local drive? Hub?
  • What OS are you using?
  • You suspect comaptibility issue - was there are previous version where everything worked as expected? If so which version was that?
  • What does the warning message on workflow to tool node say?
