BIRT report - reordering group header

Dear Knimers, I would need a litle bit of help. In my BIRT report I’m using Group on table and I need to move group header row from 1st position in table to another position, as you can see on picture example down. How can I do that?

Hello @ssimara,

so you want to move the Header to another position, correct? What is the new header row then?
Also, can you please share how the report is currently looking and how it should look instead?

Thanks JoergWas for your respond - yes, you are right, I looking for the option to move up/down or setup position of group header row or group filed (vice versa) in BIRT table design - but only when You have this grouping situation in table design. In another way: I want group field to be located on a top of a group table, even above the current table header! As You can see on picture down (table1 - how it look right now as only possible solution find in design, table2 how I would like to look like).

Hello @ssimara,
thank you for the additional information. I have tried to build a similar table in BIRT but I do not think that it is possible in BIRT itself.
What you could try to do is to create the table itself within KNIME (with the grouping and the additional headers inserted). However, that might be a lot of manual work depending on the number of groups you have in your dataset.

I have spoken with a colleague and she had some ideas that I wanted to try. Would it be possible that you can send a sample dataset? Then it might be easier to produce the correct output. This topic here describes the process: Reproducible (Minimal) Workflow Example
Also, what is the reason that you want to change the order of the group header and the column names?

Thanks Jorg to your answer - so there is no software solution … I somehow found a workaround, but still it seams to me that there is no logic in current report design solution (groups filed are located below header label of different field title!). Just for curiosity: report design stay as it is? or something new is going to happen on to road to KNIME 5 …

Thanks, I should try than and send you a minimal set example … and second you ask: is it not obviously? I mean, group filed is located below 1st header column which is of different name/title?

I think! Jörg and me had the issue, that we thought it is more complex.

Iff this is obvious, I would just add a new detail row and move the header there. Or a new group header row. Both you can do with a right click.

Sorry guys for the obvious, I forgot that obvious is very tricky term :slight_smile: … so, if I add new detail row, as you recommendation is, than group field is repeating on every row in my table which is something I do not want … and if I use right click and add a new group header row than result is that it’s always go below of table header row - which is also something I do not want.

Did you try adding a Table Group Header Row?

Thank you for the response - yes, I did, but it always goes below the header row - I’m wondering why you’re table header row looks like empty?

Thanks Iris! - finally I find out what I’m doing wrong - thanks to you sketch! - yes, I need to create/insert grouping header row once again and then manually [= this is what I was thought in wrong way that it will goes automatically!] fills this empty groups header row with rest of table header fields! and everything, for me, look fine now.
