Delayed Layout Editor Opening Issue in KNIME Version 5.3.0

I’m using KNIME version 5.3.0 and I’m experiencing a strange issue. Whenever I try to open the layout editor for a new component for the first time, the entire screen freezes for a couple of minutes before the editor panel finally opens. This only happens the first time - after it’s loaded, I can use it without any issues. I’m not sure why it takes 3-4 minutes to load the first time. Can anyone help me with this?

Welcome to the community!

That is a weird issue you are running into. What steps have you taken so far with troubleshooting?

• Have you tried updating to v5.3.1 and it still occurs?
• Try downloading the zip archive version of knime and running that. Does it also take a couple minutes to start up the editor panel?

If you download a new version and it still happens, I suspect it may have to do with memory. I would try allocating more memory in that case.

Also, If you are able to attach the log file, maybe there are some errors that will show up.

Thank you for your response. I have tried running it from the ZIP folder, updated the version to 5.3.1, and allocated 32GB of memory as you suggested. However, the same issue is persisting. I timed it and it took 8 minutes to load the editor, but this only happens the first time.

If you can attach the log file after this issue occurs, that would be great!
