File Reader Browse not responding

Hi,
I have been using KNIME infrequently for a while. Most of the time, I use the File Reader (Complex format), and it has been working great.

Since recently when I open the node and click “browse” the dialog opens but I cant select anything in that windows. After i close this dialog windows the button becomes unresponsive until I restart KNIME.

I observe the same for similar nodes (CSV Reader, CSV Writer, etc. - all the ones how have a “Browse” button to open the file dialog window).

I have tried removing and reinstalling - no change
I tried creating a new workspace - no change

I tried this very old post but it didn’t do anything either.

I would appreciate If anyone has any direction how I can fix this. Thank you very much!

I wasn’t able to replicate this myself. Just thinking out loud - which operating system do you use? What version of KNIME AP is this? Do you perhaps use some kind of special anti-virus?

many thanks for looking into this. I am using Win 11 with KNIME 5.4.3 and just Windows Defender as anti virus.

It is a bit of a strange one. Sometimes the issue magically resolves itself and comes back when opening some previously created workflows.
So it looks like it has something to do with specific workflows. But it is hard to troubleshoot what part of these workflows is responsible because it will always take a few days to start working again.

At the moment I just work around by typing in the path rather than using the File Browser.
