This course is designed for those who are just getting started on their data wrangler journey with KNIME Analytics Platform.

Course Focus
This course begins with a detailed introduction of KNIME Analytics Platform - from downloading it through to navigating the workbench.

The course focuses on accessing, merging, transforming, fixing, standardizing, and inspecting data from different sources. It dives into data cleaning and aggregation, using methods such as advanced filtering, concatenating, joining, pivoting, and grouping. With all of this, you’ll learn how to get your data into the right shape to generate insights quickly.

We’ll take you through everything you need to get started with KNIME Analytics Platform, so you can start creating well-documented, standardized, reusable workflows for your (often) repeated tasks.

This is an instructor-led course consisting of four, 75-minute online sessions run by one of our KNIME data scientists. Each session has an exercise for you to complete at home and together, we will go through the solution at the start of the following session. The course concludes with a 15-minute wrap-up session.

Hallo,
ich habe noch eine Àltere KNIME-Version und möchte diese auf V 4.1.0 updaten.
Das funktioniert leider nicht. Ich bekomme folgende Fehlermeldung:
‘Contacting Software Sites’ has encountered a problem. Some Sites could not be found

Was kann ich tun?

Hallo Sabine,

das liegt entweder daran, dass Sie hinter einer Firewall sind und die Verbindung von ihrer Firma geblockt wird oder daran, dass der Versionsunterschied zu groß ist.

Ich wĂŒrde empfehlen einfach eine neue Version herunterzuladen (v4.2.2):


Falls sie Rechte zum installieren haben, können Sie den Installer benutzen, falls ihre Rechte beschrÀnkt sind, sollte es mit dem self-extracting archive oder dem zip-archive funktionieren.

Eine andere Möglichkeit wÀre es, eine lokale Updatesite zu verwenden.
DafĂŒr mĂŒssten sie diese Datei herunterladen (Achtung: 5,5GB groß):
https://update.knime.org/analytics-platform/UpdateSite_latest42.zip
Diese Datei enthĂ€lt die neueste Version sowie alle Extensions. Diese Updatesite kann dann in KNIME eingebunden werden, so dass KNIME zur Installation von neuen Extensions immer auf diese Datei zugreift und neue Erweiterungen nicht mehr ĂŒber das Internet beziehen muss.
Wie man diese Datei einbindet, ist hier beschrieben:

Guten Morgen Julian,
vielen Dank fĂŒr die Hilfe. Es waren die Proxy-Einstellungen, die den Zugriff verhindert haben. Ich konnte das Problem lösen und habe jetzt die aktuelle Software.

Hallo, ich glaube ich habe zu viele Extensions (alle) geladen

Das Starten von KNIME dauert jetzt ewig.
Kann ich das wieder rĂŒckgĂ€ngig machen, bzw. Extension-Gruppen wieder löschen?

Von KNIME klicken File --> Install KNIME Extensions... --> What is already installed?

Hello,
I need some hints how to deal with the JOINER and CONCATENATE nodes of Exercise 2/Section 1.1 to find out what Knime does not like here 

Basicly a merge (without duplicates) should work with both of these nodes,

  • a concatuation without duplicates (suggested correct solution)
  • a full outer join of both tables where certain values are the same
    However, while I do get the same number of rows if I skip duplicates in both cases, I also get the yellow exclamation marks / warnings that there is something wrong.
    I wanted to find out what the problem is and tried Duplicate row filter and Table difference filter, but with no success.
    Obviously I would like a “clean” workflow with no warnings

  • what is actually wrong here
  • how I could/should debug this myself
  • how the Duplicate row filter and Table difference filter actually work and could help here

sehr gute Frage :slight_smile: Der Data Explorer ist Teil einer Erweiterung. Wir werden morgen lernen wie man weitere Erweiterungen und damit Knoten installieren kann.

Hallo,
ich habe wie in den Slides dargestellt ein lokales Archiv mit neuen Extensions hinzugefĂŒgt.
Es wurden meines Erachtens nicht mehr Nodes im Node Repository hinzugefĂŒgt. Habe ich evtl. etwas ĂŒbersehen?

Hallo @laraknapwost,

die neuen Nodes landen erst im Node Repository wenn die entsprechende Erweiterung installiert wird - das geht unter File → Install KNIME Extensions
 und dann bspw nach KNIME JavaScript Views (Labs) suchen, mit Next usw. bestĂ€tigen um den Data Explorer ins Node Repository zu bekommen.

Der Schritt mit dem lokalen Archiv ist nur nötig wenn z.B. das Firmennetz die Updatesites im Internet nicht erlaubt. Mehr Hintergrund gibts dazu zum Beispiel auf dieser Seite: KNIME Analytics Platform Installation Guide

in my experience this happens when there is some kind of security in the network
the fastest way to fix it is to install the extensions manually
