When switching to an workspace in a network drive, using the “Modern Interface” I receive the following message: “The path is not writable by the currente user …” and is not possible to change it.
But, prforming the same operation in “Classic Interface” it works fine.
This seems to be a problem that comes from Eclipse on which KNIME is based on. Please find the corresponding GitHub issue here.
Since the latest version of KNIME (5.3.2 at the moment), which is based on Eclipse version 4.31 from February 2024, this problem exists.
The issue was fixed in Eclipse version 4.33 released in September 2024.
Are there already plans to update the Eclipse version that comes with KNIME? If so, is there already a schedule?
Is there already an update on this?
The issue still persists in the 5.4.0 version of KNIME.
Hey,
@Aldo_Barduco, can you verify that this issue really occurs when triggered through Modern UI?
As far as I’m aware modern and classic UI currently still use the same logic for handling the local space and the message seems indeed by caused be Eclipse code as @kiliangoebl so helpfully pointed out.
I’ll elaborate on upgrading the underlying Eclipse libraries.
Best,
Ben
Heyo,
Upgrade to Eclipse 2025-03 is planned (internal ref AP-23400).
Best,
Ben
… though we might bump to 2024-12 before march, even.
Hello everyone,
First of all, thanks for the suggestions and tips.
Nowadays, in version 5.4.0, I am editing the workflows in the ‘KNIME Community Hub’ and it allows me to download them without any problems.
But if I try to save the workflow, I can get the same problem as before.
So, the download has been working fine for me.
Kind regards!
Seems like the problem is because of the Eclipse version. It’s good to know an update is planned! Hope the new version fixes the saving issue in Modern UI.
