Update or installing extensions do not work at all

Hi to everyone,
It is Celia working from an enterprise that would like to use KNIME, but the problem is in the previous steps for updating recent versions and installing extensions from community. I’ve already installed the last version 4.5.1.

The problem resides on that I had the same error message (see it attached) in both actions: File>update KNIME or File>install KNIME versions. In fact, I tried to load the url contained in error log details. Nevertheless, it did not found it as a current website.

Error messages in console:
Unable to read repository at https://update.knime.com/community-contributions/trusted/4.5/content.xml.
PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Unable to read repository at https://update.knime.com/analytics-platform/4.5/content.xml.
PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Unable to read repository at https://update.knime.com/partner/4.5/content.xml.
PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

So, I am stack in to perform anything yet.

Please help me with that bug if you notice or handle with it before.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi @celiamm and welcome to the forum.

You can check these threads for some potential workarounds:

Thank you for your fast response. Do you know how can I deal with this?

Thanks again !!

Same error problem here. Dear KNIME team, would you please help to advise?

Hi Springhan,

Maybe you are trying to connect by your own user inside your company and there is PROXY blocking your access to download certain packages/extensions. I’ve finally got solved this problem by connecting my professional laptop to another source of Internet (at home) and by administrator rights.

I hope this message is useful for you,

Kind regards

Celia

Hi, i have the same problem installing extensions in Knime 5.1. This message appears: ‘Contacting Software Sites’ has encountered a problem. Could you help me about it?

Thank you

Julian Escobar

Are you on a work laptop or connected via VPN? Often that message indicates that traffic to the software sites is being blocked by your corporate IT setup in some way.
